When he was sailing he got stuck in the ice then they got out.They staid there 281 days for the ice to break but ice did break it was crushing slowly so they took a lifeboat,they sailed elephant island in April 1916. Shackleton and four other men sailed to south Georgia hundreds mile to get help at whale station. the journey took 1,300 kilometers and it 16 days. The boat landed the wrong side of the island then they had to climb Mountainous middle section to reach whale station. A rescue party saved everyone from elephant island in August 1916.
